Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
Kinit is a Dutch business registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KVK: 96764236), based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. We run a marketplace for IT jobs: clients post an IT job for free, and approved IT professionals buy credits to unlock a job's contact details.
For any question about this policy, email us at hallo@kinit.nl.
2. What Data We Collect
- Posting an IT job: your name, the email address or phone number professionals should reach you on, the job title and description, category, budget, urgency, whether the job can be done remotely, and the location (if the job can't be done remotely). No account is needed to post a job. To keep the form free of spam and abuse, we also record your IP address, your browser (user-agent), and the time of posting.
- Creating a professional account: if you register as an IT professional we collect your email address, a hashed password (never stored in readable form), your company name, an optional bio, the categories you work in, whether you're available remotely, and your service area. New accounts start "pending" and are manually reviewed by us before you can view or unlock jobs.
- Credits and payments: if you buy credits as a professional, we record your credit balance and every change to it (purchase, spend to unlock a job, any refund), together with the payment reference and amount paid for payments processed through our payment provider Mollie (iDEAL). We do not store card or bank details ourselves — Mollie handles those.
- Unlocked jobs: when a professional spends credits to unlock a job, we record which professional unlocked which job, when, and how many credits it cost. A job's contact details are only visible to the professional(s) who unlock it — not to other professionals.
- Cookie choice: when you accept or decline cookies, we store that choice and your site language. This record is anonymous — it holds no IP address, browser data, or identifier that ties it to you.
- Analytics (only with your consent): if you accept analytics cookies, we use Mixpanel to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed and actions taken — tied to a random identifier, not your name. Nothing is sent to Mixpanel unless you accept.
- Server logs: our servers automatically record technical data such as IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.
3. Why We Use Your Data (Legal Bases)
- Performance of a contract / steps prior to a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): posting and managing your job, creating and managing your professional account, processing credit purchases, and unlocking jobs.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): analytics via Mixpanel — only after you accept. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): keeping the site secure and spam-free (including the IP address and user-agent recorded with a job posting), manually reviewing professional registrations as the marketplace's only quality control, and operating the website.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): retaining financial and payment records we are legally required to keep (e.g. tax retention rules).
4. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Posted jobs: for as long as the job is open or relevant, and up to 24 months after it closes.
- Professional accounts: for as long as your account is active; after account deletion we still retain credit and payment records for as long as legal retention rules require (see below).
- Credit and payment records: typically 7 years, in line with standard statutory tax retention requirements.
- Analytics data: at most 12 months, or until you withdraw consent.
- Cookie-choice records: 12 months.
- Server logs: 30 days.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Professionals who unlock a job — the contact details you provide when posting a job are only shared with the professional(s) who specifically unlock your job with their credits.
- Mollie — our payment provider for processing credit purchases via iDEAL. Mollie handles the payment itself; we only receive back a payment reference and the amount paid.
- Mixpanel — analytics, sent to its EU endpoint (api-eu.mixpanel.com), only with your consent.
- Our transactional email provider — so we can send job notifications, account confirmations, and other platform messages. Bound by a data-processing agreement.
- Slack — we receive internal notifications of certain platform events (such as new jobs or registrations), which include the relevant details.
- Hosting infrastructure — our servers are located within the European Union.
All processors are bound by data-processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes.
6. International Transfers
Your data is processed within the EU/EEA. Some processors (Mixpanel and Slack) have a US parent company; any transfer outside the EU is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of your data.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restriction — ask us to pause processing of your data.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw analytics consent at any time via the cookie banner or the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. For full details, see our Cookie Policy. Analytics cookies are only placed after you give explicit consent.
